1. The Power of "Rough" Measurements
You don't need a professional architectural drawing, but we do need to know the project's scale.
Flooring: Measure the length and width of the rooms. Don't forget to note closets or alcoves!
Paint: Knowing the height of your ceilings is crucial for calculating how many gallons of paint you'll need.
2. Capture the Light: Photos and Videos
Colors change based on the light they reflect. A "perfect" beige in our showroom might look slightly pink in your living room.
Pro Tip: Take a video of the room at noon and again at 5:00 PM. This helps us see if your room gets "warm" southern light or "cool" northern light, which dictates which paint undertones will look best.
3. Bring Your "Fixed" Elements
Unless you are doing a total gut-renovation, you likely have elements that aren't changing—like your kitchen cabinets, your brick fireplace, or your favorite sofa.
Physical Samples: If you have an extra piece of your trim or a cabinet door, bring it!
Fabric Swatches: Bring a pillowcase or a fabric swatch from your curtains to ensure the new flooring or wall color complements your existing decor.
4. Define Your Lifestyle
Be honest with your consultant! A home with three Golden Retrievers and four kids needs very different flooring than a quiet retirement condo. Knowing your "wear and tear" level allows us to point you toward high-performance materials like scuff-resistant paint or pet-friendly LVP.
5. Inspiration Boards
Whether it's a Pinterest board or a stack of magazines, show us what you love. Seeing your "vibe" helps us narrow down thousands of samples to the top five that fit your aesthetic.
